About Us

From Garage Space to Aerospace, Bomco Celebrates 60 Years of Excellence.

If there is one link in the interesting 60 years history of Bomco, inc. it is the pursuit of excellence.
It started in 1958 as a part-time operation in a small garage belonging to Jim MacFeeley
and a company named Bomco Pressed Metal and Spinning.

FORMING

For more than sixty years, the forming of precision metal components and assemblies has been Bomco’s core competency. Over these years Bomco has developed skills and techniques for hydroforming, deep drawing, spinning, expanding, roll forming, stamping , and CNC hydraulic press operations. With decades of experience using and improving these forming processes, Bomco’s manufacturing engineers can now select a combination of those manufacturing processes that is most efficient and cost-effective for a given component. All of the precision components and assemblies produced by Bomco for the aerospace, gas turbine and land/marine markets benefit from the efficiencies of Bomco’s metal forming capabilities.

MACHINING

Bomco’s machining operations include manual turning to 72 inch diameters, CNC turning to 50 inch diameters, and CNC milling with four and five axis work centers to 50 inch diameters. As products have evolved with more complex profiles and 3D feature orientations, Bomco has expanded its CNC machining operations. Now Bomco can leverage the flexibility of multiple four and five axis machining centers with the intelligence of Unigraphics NX6 based Master Models to maintain the demanding tolerances required by aerospace, gas turbine, and land/marine components.

Non-Conventional Machining

Bomco currently operates two 2000 watt, six-axis C02 laser machining centers that are typically used in trimming operations where conventional methods are inefficient or inapplicable. All Bomco’s laser programming is performed in-house using the latest multi-axis programming software. The metallographic results of laser processing are studied in Bomco’s quality laboratory. When required, samples are sent to independent laboratories to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Welding/Joining

Bomco’s joining capability is a significant component of the manufacturing process allowing the production of complex assemblies used in aerospace, gas turbine and land/marine equipment. The exhaust cone for a military jet engine (shown here) was joined using riveting, GTAW and resistance welding. Bomco is accredited by Nadcap for SAE Aerospace AS 7003 and AC 7110 for Welding (Resistance & Fusion). Bomco’s GTAW capability includes manual welding, automatic welding, and automatic circumferential welding.

Design & Engineering

In order to meet the increasing complexity of the design and manufacture of specialized precision metal-formed components for aerospace, gas turbine and land/marine markets, Bomco uses the best available design and engineering management techniques. Our engineers work in an IPT (Integrated Product Team) environment with our customers. They are also skilled and experienced with the CPD (Concurrent Product Development) process and the CAD/CAM productivity of Unigraphics NX10 for tool design, programming and inspection.

Quality Assurance

Bomco is an IS0 9001:2008 and AS 9100 registered company. With both resistance and fusion welding important to many of Bomco’s precision assemblies, Bomco holds Nadcap Certificate of Accreditation to SAE Aerospace AS 7003 and AC 7110. Laser cutting operations, an equally important procedure for many of Bomco’s precision components, are supported by Nadcap Certificate of Accreditation to SAE Aerospace AS 7003 and AC 7116 for non-conventional machining.
